Law Student to Compete at Olympics

She suspects she’s listened to law lectures and read lecture notes in more parts of the world than anyone else, but 4th Year Law/Media Communications student and Olympic hopeful Kimberley Crow isn’t complaining. She likes ‘the ideal that Melbourne Uni presents about living a balanced life’ – and she’s making the most of it.

Kimberley has been selected to race in a pair (with Sarah Cook) at the Olympic Games in Beijing. Participating in the Olympics is something Kimberley has dreamed of since childhood, although a serious foot injury in 2004 put paid to aspirations of making it there as an elite middle distance hurdler. Talent-spotted as a rower, she has been rowing in a pair and an eight for two and a half years, last year proving her prowess by coming first (women’s pair) in the Linz World Cup and third (women’s pair) in the Amsterdam World Cup.

Law teaching in Australia began in 1857 at Melbourne Law School. In 2008, Melbourne Law School celebrates another first, becoming the first all-graduate law faculty in Australia: all entry level students are now admitted to the global standard, Juris Doctor (JD) degree. This new program builds on a rich tradition of success, which has enabled Melbourne Law School graduates to become leaders in legal, political and public life across Australia, and around the world.
